…my mum didn’t really want me….as I became aware of my sexuality she bullied me more…I did really badly at school. That’s when I found out about The Albert Kennedy trust. My placement (with an AKT foster carer) was very positive; I learnt a lot about myself and my sexuality. It was like living with my parents except they were gay – they would sit me down and talk to me about my lifestyle, my sexuality and anything else

When I told my parents I was gay they threw me out onto the streets…I ended up having sex with strangers just to get a bed for the night. Then I found AKT and they matched me up with carers who provided me with supported lodgings. I started college this year and I feel like I have a future for the first time since my family turned their back on me
