Coronation Treat!

AKT Patron's Julie Hesmondhalgh (aka Hailey Cropper) and Anthony Cotton arranged for AKT's young people in Manchester to visit the set or Coronation Street for the day. The young people, along with some of AKT's staff were shown around all the sets and got to meet many of the Street's stars including Anthony Cotton!

Thanks so much to Julie and everyone at Granada Studios for their warm welcome. As you can see from the photographs and quotes, a fun day was had by all.

Young peoples thoughts of the day...

Will
My day at Corrie was great! I enjoyed going on set and meeting Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hailey) and the other cast members, including the sexy Ryan Thomas (Jason)! He gave me a big hug and I was very happy. I would love to live on Coronation Street.

Ruth
Hailey is my favourite character (Julie Hesmondhalgh); she gave us all daffodils when we arrived. I got hugs from the cast I met, including Ryan (Jason) and Anthony Cotton (Sean) who were good ‘cuddlers’! I was surprised by how small the sets were. My only disappointment to an otherwise top day was not seeing Betty and having one of her hotpots!

It was an amazing visit. It was also great to be out with AKT and the other young people. I was shocked by how small the sets were but would still love to live on Coronation Street!

It was fun going to Coronation Street, as I got to see around the street and the sets. It was really good to meet the actors, and it was nice to see Anthony (Sean) and Julie (Hailey) again. The AKT group was fun and energetic and no-one got food poisoning from Norris’s shop!

A whistle stop tour of one of the most surreal experiences I've had. We didn't meet quite as many stars of The Street as I had imagined, though I can not fault the actors we did meet, all of them were exceedingly courteous and informative, allowing us most amusing insights into life on set. With ample time and photo opportunities, I'd found myself enjoying the experience more than expected. Also, as an added bonus, whenever Corrie comes onto the screen, I can have the smug satisfaction of thinking I've been there. I'll always appreciate the opportunity afforded to me.
